 Basic Japanese Teaching Program


This program is designed for the teaching and learning of basic Japanese once a week for 1 hour.

A total of 24 lessons: divided into 4 lessons per month:


Month 1: Introduction and Fundamentals


Lesson 1: Introduction to Japanese

- Objective: Familiarize with the Japanese language and its writing.

- Content:

  - Brief history of the Japanese language.

  - Introduction to writing systems: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.

  - Activity: Presentation of the Hiragana and Katakana syllabaries.


Lesson 2: Hiragana (Part 1)

- Objective: Learn the first 10 letters of Hiragana.

- Content:

  - Letters: あ (a), い (i), う (u), え (e), お (o), か (ka), き (ki), く (ku), け (ke), こ (ko).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Lesson 3: Hiragana (Part 2)

- Objective: Learn the next 10 letters of Hiragana.

- Content:

  - Letters: さ (sa), し (shi), す (su), せ (se), そ (so), た (ta), ち (chi), つ (tsu), て (te), と (to).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Lesson 4: Hiragana (Part 3)

- Objective: Learn the last letters of Hiragana.

- Content:

  - Letters: な (na), に (ni), ぬ (nu), ね (ne), の (no), は (ha), ひ (hi), ふ (fu), へ (he), ほ (ho).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Month 2: Basic Vocabulary and Grammar


Lesson 5: Introduction to Katakana (Part 1)

- Objective: Learn the first 10 letters of Katakana.

- Content:

  - Letters: ア (a), イ (i), ウ (u), エ (e), オ (o), カ (ka), キ (ki), ク (ku), ケ (ke), コ (ko).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Lesson 6: Katakana (Part 2)

- Objective: Learn the next 10 letters of Katakana.

- Content:

  - Letters: サ (sa), シ (shi), ス (su), セ (se), ソ (so), タ (ta), チ (chi), ツ (tsu), テ (te), ト (to).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Lesson 7: Katakana (Part 3)

- Objective: Learn the last letters of Katakana.

- Content:

  - Letters: ナ (na), ニ (ni), ヌ (nu), ネ (ne), ノ (no), ハ (ha), ヒ (hi), フ (fu), ヘ (he), ホ (ho).

  - Activity: Writing and pronunciation exercises.


Lesson 8: Basic Vocabulary

- Objective: Learn basic vocabulary.

- Content:

  - Words: こんにちは (Konnichiwa - Hello), さようなら (Sayōnara - Goodbye), ありがとう (Arigatou - Thank you), はい (Hai - Yes), いいえ (Iie - No).

  - Activity: Create simple dialogues using the vocabulary learned.


Month 3: Basic Grammatical Structures


Lesson 9: Introduction to Kanji

- Objective: Familiarize with basic Kanji.

- Content:

  - Introduction to Kanji: meaning and use.

  - Basic Kanji: 日 (sun/day), 月 (moon/month), 山 (mountain), 川 (river).

  - Activity: Write and practice reading Kanji.


Lesson 10: Simple Sentences

- Objective: Learn to construct simple sentences.

- Content:

  - Basic structure: Subject + Verb + Object.

  - Examples: 私は学生です (Watashi wa gakusei desu - I am a student).

  - Activity: Create simple sentences.


Lesson 11: Basic Questions

- Objective: Learn to formulate simple questions.

- Content:

  - Interrogative words: 何 (nani - what), どこ (doko - where), いつ (itsu - when).

  - Examples of questions: これは何ですか? (Kore wa nan desu ka? - What is this?).

  - Activity: Practice questions in pairs.


Lesson 12: Common Verbs

- Objective: Learn some common verbs.

- Content:

  - Verbs: 食べる (taberu - eat), 飲む (nomu - drink), 行く (iku - go), 来る (kuru - come).

  - Activity: Create sentences using the learned verbs.


Month 4: Conversation and Practice


Lesson 13: Everyday Conversations

- Objective: Practice everyday dialogues.

- Content:

  - Examples of dialogues: in a store, in a restaurant.

  - Activity: Role-play of everyday situations.


Lesson 14: Food Vocabulary

- Objective: Learn vocabulary related to food.

- Content:

  - Words: ご飯 (gohan - rice/meal), 野菜 (yasai - vegetables), 肉 (niku - meat), 魚 (sakana - fish).

  - Activity: Create a menu in Japanese.


Lesson 15: Clothing Vocabulary

- Objective: Learn vocabulary related to clothing.

- Content:

  - Words: シャツ (shatsu - shirt), ズボン (zubon - pants), 靴 (kutsu - shoes).

  - Activity: Describe what they are wearing in Japanese.


Lesson 16: Places Vocabulary

- Objective: Learn vocabulary about places.

- Content:

  - Words: 学校 (gakkou - school), 銀行 (ginkou - bank), 店 (mise - store).

  - Activity: Make a city map in Japanese.


Month 5: Culture and Context


Lesson 17: Japanese Culture

- Objective: Introduce Japanese culture.

- Content:

  - Cultural aspects: festivals, food, customs.

  - Activity: Presentation on a Japanese tradition.


Lesson 18: Japanese Festivals

- Objective: Learn about Japanese festivals.

- Content:

  - Festivals: お正月 (Oshougatsu - New Year), 花見 (Hanami - Cherry Blossom Festival).

  - Activity: Create a festival calendar.


Lesson 19: Music and Dance

- Objective: Introduce Japanese music and dances.

- Content:

  - Examples of popular music and traditional dances.

  - Activity: Listen to a song and discuss its meaning.


Lesson 20: Brief History of Japan

- Objective: Summarize the history of Japan.

- Content:

  - Key events in the history of Japan.

  - Activity: Create a timeline of important events.


Month 6: Review and Advanced Practice


Lesson 21: Vocabulary Review

- Objective: Reinforce the vocabulary learned.

- Content:

  - Review of key words and phrases.

  - Activity: Memory game with flashcards.


Lesson 22: Advanced Conversation

- Objective: Practice more complex conversations.

- Content:

  - Group dialogue exercises.

  - Activity: Simulate a conversation in a specific context.


Lesson 23: Games and Activities

- Objective: Learn Japanese in a fun way.

- Content:

  - Word games, crosswords, and interactive activities.

  - Activity: Vocabulary competition in teams.


Lesson 24: Final Evaluation and Closure

- Objective: Evaluate progress and close the course.

- Content:

  - Written and oral evaluation.

  - Activity: Reflection on what was learned and farewell.
